Welcome to Little Livingstone’s Preschool

We are excited to welcome you to Little Livingstone’s Preschool, which is part of our Federation based on the Livingstone Road Infant School site.

At Little Livingstone’s Preschool, we nurture children from the tender age of 2 following the standards set within the Early Years Foundation Stage until they are ready to spread their wings at 4 years old and transition to Livingstone Road Infant School.

What sets our preschool apart is that our little learners have access to all areas of the Federation. This unique feature allows them to seamlessly transition into the Infant and Junior School, providing them with familiar learning environments and endless opportunities to explore, discover and grow.

By joining Little Livingstone’s Preschool, you become part of our tight-knit community, where we foster relationships with families and children from an early age. Together we lay the foundation for a lifelong love of learning and establish the behaviour expectations of our Federation that ensure that your child has the very best opportunities and outcomes.

Leading the way at Little Livingstone’s Preschool is the remarkable Miss Kirsty Roberts, our passionate and dedicated Foundation Lead. With her expertise and commitment, each child has the very best start to their educational journey.

About Us

Here at Little Livingstone’s Preschool, we draw inspiration from the ‘Curiosity Approach’, a revolutionary teaching philosophy that sparks children’s imaginations by using real-life resources instead of ordinary plastic toys. Our aim is to give children the freedom to explore, think for themselves and make choices that shape their learning experiences.

We believe that the great outdoors and our community are endless sources of inspiration and discovery for young minds. That is why we place a strong emphasis on unlimited outdoor access and community exploration. From our exciting mini trips around the neighbourhood, to making use of the incredible facilities across our Federation, including the Train Reading Room, Narnia Room, The Book Factory, Art/DT room, Reading Garden, expansive school field and forest school areas, we ensure that our little adventurers have countless opportunities to learn and grow in the most engaging ways.

To support your child’s progress, we use the Development Matters framework. This framework empowers our skilled preschool practitioners to make best-fit judgments about where a child is showing typical development for their age. We believe in open and transparent communication, sharing information with parents/carers, colleagues and other professionals, because we believe that every child deserves to be the best they can be.

As part of our dedication to providing a smooth transition into formal education, we work closely with our exceptional EYFS team at Livingstone Road Primary Federation. Together we cultivate a learning environment that nurtures strong foundations in mathematics and phonics skills. With these essential skills, your child will embark on their academic journey with confidence and a love of learning.

At Little Livingstone’s Preschool, we understand that each child is unique and deserves individualised care. Every child is allocated a Key Person who is responsible for ensuring that their care is tailored to meet their individual needs.

This Key Person plays a crucial role in fostering effective communication between the preschool and parents. They ensure that each child feels safe and happy and that they are supported in their development. They act as a vital link, providing you with regular updates and insights into your child’s progress, ensuring that you feel connected and involved in their preschool experience.

During your child’s first week at preschool, we will carefully assign them a Key Person. It is important to us that the right person is allocated to support your child, therefore we like to observe your child at preschool to see which member of staff your child feels naturally connected to. Our aim is to provide your child with a sense of security and reassurance whilst away from home. Rest assured, your child’s key person will be there every step of the way fostering their growth, igniting their potential and creating an environment where they can flourish.

The designated safeguarding lead at Livingston Road Primary Federation is Mrs C Richardson Assitant Headteacher and Mrs C Robjohns Acting Deputy Headteacher.

Here at the Federation, we hold an unwavering commitment to the welfare and protection of our children. In the rare instance where we may need to have a conversation with you about your child, please rest assured that their safety and happiness is our top priority.

Little Livingstone’s Preschool is open from 9am-3pm 38 weeks a year. It has the same term dates as Livingstone Road Infant and Junior Schools.
