At Livingstone Road Primary School, we are incredibly proud of our vibrant community of young carers. These children play an important role at home, offering support to family members who may be living with illness, disability, mental health needs, or other challenges. We recognise the responsibility they carry and are committed to ensuring they feel understood, valued, and supported every day in school. Mrs Paterson is our young carer’s champion and works closely with MYTIME.
Our Young Carers provision provides a safe, nurturing space where children can talk openly, build friendships with others who share similar experiences, and take part in activities that help them relax and enjoy time for themselves. We offer regular check-ins, group sessions, and opportunities for children to develop confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging. Our aim is to make sure every young carer knows they are not alone and that their wellbeing matters.
We work closely with families and local young carer organisations to ensure our support is joined-up and meaningful. By building strong partnerships within the community, we can offer guidance, signposting, and additional help when needed. At Livingstone Road Primary, we celebrate the strength and compassion of our young carers and are dedicated to providing the understanding, encouragement, and care they deserve.
